Last week was Cowboy's chance to shine...
Our academy held its annual Wrestl-o-rama where the boys work up an appetite and everyone else eats.
Sweetie Daddy and I knew from he beginning that winning would be a struggle for Cowboy. Because he's a bit of an inbetweenieweenie, he wrestles boys almost a whole year older than him and boys a few months younger than him. It also doesn't help that for the last few months while he's supposed to have been watching and learning that the big boys' practices, he's been running around and playing instead. Our hope was more that he would fight and not quit, as he's apt to do on most days.
Our expectations were significantly lowered when he literally kneed himself in the mouth during warm-ups...
...and passed his time waiting for his turn by dancing to the music in his head.
But we were shocked and suprised proud and excited when he won his first match!
We got the whole match on video, but there's some crazy lady screaming, "GET UP! NO, COWBOY, NO! GET UP RIGHT NOW. DON'T YOU DARE ROLL OVER!" in the background.
It was quite embarrassing. I just blush for some people, ya know?

Then Cowboy got to wrestle his bestest buddy from down the street.
It didn't go so well for Cowboy...
...but he didn't give up!
He fought and fought hard.
He kept getting up.
J eventually won the match 10/4. Second place isn't so bad for right now... for now.
In the end, we are very, very proud of our scrapper.
HA! Good memories. I remember unconsciously contorting my body in impossible angles trying to get my brothers to get out from under someone. You should be proud of him--that stuff is hard work whether you win or lose!
